With Cybersecurity Month approaching, we are excited to announce a month-long challenge in October 2024 that will help you build your knowledge and hone your secure code skills.
Cybermons are mystical little monsters that make the web insecure. Each Cybermon symbolizes one of the most common software vulnerabilities. Each has a unique profile, signature move, and ways to defeat.
Starting Date

We encourage you all to participate in this fun and exciting event so be on the lookout for that email invite. For those who decide to take on the Cybermons you will find them added to the top menu in the Secure Code Warrior portal starting October 7th.
How it works
Each week a new Cybermon will appear. To defeat a Cybermon, users would need to score 3 points by completing our fun and interactive activities:
- Coding Labs - 2 points
- Walkthroughs - 1 point
- Missions - 1 point
- Challenges - 1 point
NOTE: Defeating a Cybermon comes with bragging rights as well as a limited edition badges.
Keep your streak and become a Cyberhero
Starting 7 October, a new Cybermon will be released each week:
- Week 1: Starts 7th of October
- Week 2: Starts 14th of October
- Week 3: Starts 21st of October
- Week 4: Starts 28th of October
IMPORTANT: Keep your weekly streak alive by scoring all 4 badges and be crowned a Cyberhero. All Cyberheroes will enter a random prize draw to win a special gift from Secure Code Warrior highlighting your achievement!

Earn limited edition badges
Every Cybermon can be defeated by scoring 3 points completing our fun and interactive activities: 2 points for Coding Labs, and 1 point for Walkthroughs, Missions or Challenges. Those that defeat the week’s Cybermon will be awarded a limited edition badge in addition to their bragging rights.

Keep your weekly streak alive by scoring all 4 badges and be crowned a Cyberhero. All Cyberheroes will automatically enter into a random prize draw to win a limited edition T-shirt from Secure Code Warrior highlighting your achievement!

FAQs
Who can participate in Cybermon?
- All existing Secure Code Warrior customers can participate in Cybermon.
Do I have to enroll/register or do anything special to participate?
- No, all customers will be able to access a new menu item on the top nav bar on the Secure Code Warrior portal.
Does company admin/team manager need to do anything to ensure their developers participate in Cybermon?
- Socialize this campaign with your user base and promote participation to encourage your users to earn their badges.
How will learners get access to Cybermon?
- Learners will receive an email prompting them to “defeat” the Cybermon that is on the loose on our platform. This email will contain a call to action that will direct the learner to log in and subsequently push them to the Cybermon page.
How does a learner defeat a Cybermon?
- Each week’s Cybermon will have 3 lives, which can be taken by completing one of the following types of activities:
- Coding Labs (worth 2 lives)
- Missions/Walkthroughs (worth 1 life)
- Challenges (worth 1 life)
How much time does a learner get to defeat each Cybermon?
- Each Cybermon will only be available for the duration of that week.
- If you miss a week, you will not be able to go back in time to defeat that week’s Cybermon.
How much time would it take to earn a badge?
- Whilst specific to each user, it would only take you anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes each week to complete required activities and earn a badge for that week.
What if I miss one week, can I still earn the badge?
- Yes, you can still earn a badge for the Cybermon currently available, and participate in any week regardless of badges earned.
- However, you can only earn the badge for specific Cybermon in the week it is available. So if you miss one, you can still defeat others.
Do I get to keep my badges after the event is complete?
- Yes, Cybermon badges and the ultimate Cyberhero badge will be recorded against each user's profile. Stay tuned for more exciting news about future initiatives on badges and gamification.
Will there be reporting for Cybermon participation?
- Yes, we will provide company administrators with a report that shows who participated, how many badges they earned, etc.
Is there a time limit for each weekly activity?
- To catch each threat, users must complete the set activities within the week, but there is no specific time limit.
What languages will be available in Cybermon?
- All languages/frameworks, except for Pseudocode, will qualify towards earning a Cybermon badge.
- However, not all languages will be available due to content availability in specific languages for certain Cybermons. Users are encouraged to select the next best language if their primary language is not available.
- Users can select 1 or multiple languages and complete activities in different languages to earn a badge.
What will learners get as a reward for defeating a Cybermon?
- Learners can earn up to 5 limited edition badges in our platform by defeating each week’s Cybermon.
- Learners who successfully defeat all 4 Cybermons will also be issued a limited edition “Cyberhero” badge.
- These badges will be recorded against each user's profile, and visible on the Cybermon page.
- Users will get to keep these badges after the completion of the campaign. Stay tuned for more updates on future initiatives for user achievements and badges.
- Limited edition T-Shirt – all Cyberheroes (those who defeat all 4 Cybermons) will enter a draw to win a limited edition T-shirt.
Will the results of the Cybermon campaign be shared with other organizations for comparison purposes?
- No, the results of the campaign will only contained withing customer's platform, and only visible to company admins and team managers.
