Secure Code Warrior® supports integration with Microsoft Teams to provide a more effective way of engaging your developers through modern communications channels.
What does it do?
- Developers who are assigned a course (with or without end-of-course assessment) will receive a Teams bot notification inviting them to start the course.
- Developers will receive a Teams bot notification 3 & 5 days before their course or assessment is due.
- Company administrators can send ad-hoc nudges to participants who haven’t completed an assigned course or assessment.
How to Install Teams Notification Bot
Installing the app requires Microsoft 365 Teams admin privileges.
Step 1
In your Microsoft Teams admin portal, navigate to "Setup policies" under the "Teams apps" setting. Click "Add" to create a new policy.
Step 2
Click "Add apps" and search for the "Secure Code Warrior" app. Click "Add" and save the policy.
Step 3
Click "Group policy assignment" and then click "Add". Select the group of users that are in scope for learning and should be receiving Secure Code Warrior notifications. These groups are managed via your Active Directory.
Then, select the policy you just created and click "Apply".
Important: Microsoft policy assignments can take up to 24 hours to take effect. Once the user in scope logs into their Teams account, the app will trigger a personal Welcome message:
Step 4
Now we need turn on "enable Microsoft Teams notifications" under "communications" in Administration.
- Navigate to 'Administration' at the top right of the menu then select 'Communications'
- Turn on "Enable Microsoft Teams notifications" under Communication channels
NOTE: If you enable Teams after inviting developers, they will not receive the invitation notification on Teams. You can send a Nudge to trigger a new Teams notification.
